There are several cities named Lancaster within the USA but
    this one is pronounced "Lanc-i-ster"

Did you know that Lancaster was once the capital of the U.S.? Have
you heard of the Conestoga rifle or the Conestoga Wagon? Can  you
name any famous local citizens who were instrumental in forging the
development of our country? Come to Lancaster and we'll tell you.

Tour Guides are located within the Visitors'
Center located on Penn Square at 1-3 West King Street. They
are easy to recognize in their 18th or 19th Century garb representing
such dignitaries as George Ross, Gen. Edward Hand, Adam Reigart,
Robert Coleman, James Buchanan, and Thaddeus Stevens.

Come early in the day and shop at Central Market before the tour.
